REMEMBER | CELEBRATE | ENVISION
Gainesville has had plenty to celebrate since our establishment in 1869. We’ve seen technological advancements, cultural progress and sports championships that have launched us into the national spotlight. This year, we’re commemorating how we’ve grown and looking forward to the future. Here’s to another 150 years.
OUR GAINESVILLE STORIES
Gainesville150! is excited to partner with Self Narrate who created an innovation in storytelling … The Story Cycle, the world’s first story-recording bicycle! The Story Cycle is a video recording studio on wheels to create a library of narratives from community members and visitors. Look for the Story Cycle at different Gainesville150! events throughout the anniversary year. Then hop in and tell your Gainesville story.
Gainesville150! will bring programs and exhibits that are interactive, engaging and inclusive – leveraging education, technology, personal experiences and family lore that define our City’s shared heritage. Events throughout the anniversary year include concerts, performing arts, history projects, public art exhibits, dance, and community discussions and will conclude with a community-wide celebration to be held in April 2020 to launch us into the next 150 years. Gainesville150! encourages an understanding of the City’s past and paves the way for a future built on innovation, inclusiveness, excellence, economic vitality and community pride.
